Sketchy

I love the class on “gesture drawing/drawing from life.” I’m always so intrigued by student reactions. Not only are we drawing from videos (or still photos, but with a time limit), I have them use drawing boards, newsprint, and charcoal. A lot of new things!

They generally dislike it at first, but when I ask during the final class what they liked, many name this lesson. They liked using the charcoal: the feel of it in their hand, the sound on the paper, the way it forces you to just draw and not worry about imperfections.
